Velvet Wasp is a electronic rock outfit that incorporates elements of industrial, metal, blues, jazz as well as bits and specks of other styles. Spanning from smooth and sexy to fuming rage, Velvet Wasp changes their sound from one moment to the next. It is almost as if the music itself was a vagrant wondering the streets, arguing with belligerent fire hydrants and light poles.
Velvet Wasp just released their first offering, Explosive Decompression EP. These five tracks were picked to introduce you to their sound and showcase the bands ability to morph styles. Explosive Decompression is meant to be a taste of the full length album the band is currently finishing up and give potential fans something to chew on.
Velvet Wasp has two main members, Cies Charbenious and myself (Chris Holland). I handle the writing, programing and playing while Cies adds her wonderful voice and melodies. All the music is written and recorded in my home studio. No label, no producer…just Cies and myself holed up together. For the live work we sometimes pull in some help for the guitar work but mostly it ends up being just the two of us. Cies works the crowd while I coax the music along with my controllers and guitar.
So check out Explosive Decompression and keep an eye out for the upcoming full length album. For further information contact me at chris@velvetwasp.com or check out our Bandcamp site.
